Product Description
When teenager and amateur photographer Marc Canter set out to document his best friend Saul Hudson's rise as a rock guitarist in 1982, he never imagined he was documenting the genesis of of the next great rock 'n' roll band. His friend became the legendary guitarist Slash, and Canter found himself witnessing the creation of Guns N' Roses front and center. The candid shots contained in Reckless Road, taken as the band toured in 1985-1987 and made the legendary album Appetite for Destruction, capture their raw, blood-sweat-and-tears performances as well as their intimate moments. Containing original gig memorabilia including show flyers, ticket stubs, set lists, press clippings, and handwritten lyrics as well as in-depth interviews with band members and the people closest to them, Reckless Road offers an explicit, first-person perspective readers won't find anywhere else.

Essential for any GnR fan! ( hansontipton )
The book itself is very cool, written by a close friend of the band who was a photography buff and chronicled the band's rise in 1985-86. Lots of good pics I had never seen before (and many you will recognize from the liner notes to Appetite.) But the reason this book is so essential is because it is an "enhanced book." ([...]) I had never heard of enhanced books, but the book comes with a unique code you can use to access a bunch of content on their website. Every page of the book has extra content - photos that weren't included in the book, audio clips from early shows, video clips. It is awesome. I wish there were a book like this for every band I love. If you like GnR, I strongly recommend this book and the online extras.

Picture this
Good book, Lots of cool pictures. could have been set up better, make it easier to read the text.

Every picture tells its story
If you are looking for the picture story of Gn'R (before appetite), this is the one. We should bow at Canter's work. He really did it, when he even didn't know what it was going to become. Marc, you're the man.

Great book!
I was a musician in LA during that time, and actually hung out with many of the people mentioned in this book. It is easily the best glimpse of what it was like to be around one of the greatest rock bands before they hit the big time. The photos contained in this book are Marc's or other people's personal photos of the story as it happened. They are not the same "stock" photos you see in most books. If you want to see what it was like to experience Guns n Roses as they played the LA club scene and transformed themselves from just another band to 5 guys that recorded what was one of the best rock album's of the 1980's, this book is the best way to do it, unless you lived it!

Great book, except for the typos
Reckless Road: Guns N' Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction
Considering the great content and how proud Slash is of the book, you'd think they'd care enough to hire someone to proof for all the typos. They went to Europe to join the 'Colt' tour? C'mon.
Besides that, great pics (although they made the copy a little difficult to read), great stories. I recommend it to any GnR fan.
