introduction
this cd was my intro unto sentenced and i could have never been happier/sad. i bought this cd on a whim i saw the cover thought it looked interesting so i picked it up. little did i know buying that cd would lead to years of commitment to this band. i wasnt a fan of their early work with the old singer but ville was just what the band needed. i love melodic gloomy music such as amorphis and this just blew me away. i love every single track on this cd but my favs would probably be no more beating as one(which i heard on the identity 6 compliation )home in despair, killing me killing you, with bitterness and joy, and my slowing heart. while not musicly astounding (but in no way bad) lyricly sentenced floors the listener with depression sadness and a kind of romanticism that so many bands lack nowadays. pick this cd up if you like youre music melodic, gloomy and passionate..

Not my favorite but it is Sentenced's best. ( vicky_phibes )
I'll say for the record that TCWL is my favorite Sentenced album, but there are some earth shattering songs that belong to Crimson. Songs like Fragile, No More Beating As One, Broken, Killing Me Killing You, and Dead Moon Rising make this album an absolut melancholich classic. In my opinion Broken just steals the show on this album with one of the best guitar peices I've ever heard; catchy as hell and heavy enough to satisfy any metal fan. Coming in a close second is Fragile, probobly one of the sadder Sentenced songs out there. Just a big bring down no way you can smile after hearing this song.
In the long run Sentenced's "Crimson" is a definite must for any fan of gothy melancholy metal. And for newer fans to Sentenced this album gives you the heaviness of "Frozen" and the depression of "The Cold White Light". Solid album through and through I give it 9/10

New Direction: Same Commitment ( nimh82 )
Casting off their Death-Metal Armor, SENTENCED reveals something quite surprising.
When METALLICA attempted to reinvent themselves with their 'Black Album'and despite un-ending radio play and groundbreaking record sales for a "Heavy-Metal" album, they dumped both their artistic integrity as well as their technical credibility to make more room for Lars's Ego and their off-shore bank accounts.
SENTENCED has also taken a new direction but more importantly, they've succeeded in not only maintaining their authenticity and passion but 'Crimson' is actually very listenable.
Slow, heavy, base-driven riffs open most songs that explode into a powerful, melodic chorus on such tracks as 'Dead Moon Rising', 'Fragile' and 'No More Beating As One' to the vocal meloncholy, yet musically uplifting, 'The River' and 'My Heart Is Slowing Down'.
'Crimson' should please both newcomers and die-hard fans alike. Although 'The Cold White Light' is a noble successor to 'Crimson', I think track for track, 'Crimson' stands solid and will most likely see the "light of day" or is it the "dark of night?" for a long time to come.

Melody and Metal ARE a match after all. ( garoadx )
I have been listening to a lot of heavy metal songs lately, and I am not really a fan of Death\Dark metal, rather I like melody and rythm metal, which is why I am a major fan of this CD, the songs are very powerfull and have an emotional tone most bands can not achieve, every member of the band some how makes the tone of the album fall into place and be perfect, it is not very often a CD like this comes along, I suguest buying it ASAP.
