Much better than II.......
Although part III is much better than part II it is still a far cry from the original "True to the Game"...Now II left us believing that Ms. Woods actually made a "Young & the Restless" move & brought Quadir back to life so it was no surprise to learn the identity of Gena's savior...I've always LOVED Quadir & envied the love he had for Gena...So if u read I & II then u might as well read III...Ms. Woods I'm now looking forward to the completion of the "Angel" & "Deadly Reigns" series....can u please make it happen?!

Different ( rawsistaz )
TRUE TO THE GAME III, the third book of the Teri Woods trilogy, takes you on a hunt through the streets of Philly where the second book left off. Gena awakens and discovers herself injured and in new surroundings. She has much to deal with as she goes into hiding, as she remembers she has lost the love of her life. She's confused, frightened and hurt and makes too many mistakes which put her in grave danger. Meanwhile, a thug with a serious appetite for killing is searching the streets to slaughter and destroy anyone in his path to Gena.
Although the copy reviewed was an advanced reading copy, it was clearly well-written and very descriptive, more so than book one and two, but I felt as if I was reading a different story by a different writer. It is a wonderful thing to see growth in writers; unfortunately, growth hindered the street edge of this series. TRUE TO THE GAME III has lost the street edge that propelled book one to the top of the street fiction field and doesn't seem as "true to the game."
This book focused too much on the crooked cops and not enough on Gena. Gena appeared weak, without any street credibility and I found myself wondering who this book was about and why it was written. Though the book had drama, it was not enough to match the predecessors. Teri Woods was at the top of her game previously; unfortunately, TRUE TO THE GAME III fell short of what I expected from her.

Vengence is mine said the twin brother ( dawnchambray )
This book really took it there. It shows how a vengeful brother can really seek revenge. By going after your family and friends and even your elderly grandma. That was the ultimate disgrace and I wish Jerrod could have been taken out to suffer more than he actually had. I hate the fact that Gena is such a weakling. You'd think growing up in Richard Allen would have made her stronger. She is one of the most naive characters that I have ever read about. Now the way Quadir was resurrected was sweet! I have to give Ms. Woods her props for that. His bff betrayed him in the worse way. Money really is the root of all evil. Cops, loyal servants and even your family members sometimes turn on you because of it. But I still have to go back and re-read part one because of the long release delay of two and three. I guess part 1 was re-released but I read it first years ago. No way to remember all that happened from eight years ago but I'm glad this one was released not to long after part 2.

Expected a little more
I liked the first True to the Game book, and the second was okay it was interesting to say the least. This last one somewhat disappointed me. I understood what the author was doing and I think the story could have been really great. This book left me questioning a gang of things in the second book, by now everybody knows it was Quadir that saved her, well why in the world did it take so long, he'd could have been and got to her and explained the situation, he'd been following and watching her all that time and Jerrell wasn't with her 24/7. In this book Gena was even stupider than in the first one, I hated the way that she didn't seem to grow or mature really at all she was still some flashy hood chick worried about how she'd stay laced in Gucci and Gold, worried about herself. I liked the twist and turns and how she had to go through all that stuff, I just didn't like the fact that the author kept her in that stereotypical stigma of being this dumb tail girl. Then again, Quadir seemed just as air headed as her, so maybe they are a match made in heaven. And I agree the ending was not what I expected and I was very disappointed that she didn't go into more detail about their relationship. In all it was okay, the twist and turns were interesting not enough about the lead characters though, and the ending was very rushed and left you wondering how all of that even came about, but an okay book to read if your waiting in the doctors office or your cable is out lol, or your just plain ol bored. Get it from the Library though.
